January 13th ::: First Task

Situation 1~~
Ridzuan is a semester seven students doing his final year project.
Hes has just submitted his FYP report draft to his supervisor and feedback
from the supervisor is as follows;

1. Not enough reading to support the idea of his project
 2. His project is not significant for a degree student
3. Badly written

Ridzuan has actually spent a long time drafting his report. He is very sure
his report has no major problems because his project has produced a good prototype;
however, the supervisors' comments have made him very confused.
He thinks he has done enough as his project clearly shows the application
of hands-on-skills. In fact, he is very excited to show how good he is through his project.
He believes that there is nothing wrong with his report except that his supervisor
dislike him. The dilemma he is facing now is how can he improve
for the next resubmission of the report.

Questions~~
1.  Is Ridzuan's opinion correct?
2.  Is there anything that Ridzuan might have left out during his report writing?
3.  Discuss the issues within your group and then present your suggestions
on what/how Ridzuan should do for FYP report.

~~Group Suggestion & Presentation~~

1.
  ~| f.a.c.t.s.|~
~> not enough reading to support the idea of his project.
~> his project report is not significant for a degree student.
~> prototype produced was good/working
~> report is badly written.
he thinks his supervisor dislike him.

2.
 ~ | v.i.e.w.s.| ~
~> too many grammatical errors with regards to sentence construction.
(i.e. might not be using passive voice in report writing)
~> he does not know the report's format.
~> he did not submit his draft to his supervisor prior to submitting.
~> he focuses on finishing the product and disregard the importance of referencing.

3.
~ | l.e.s.s.o.n.s l.e.a.r.n.t | ~
~> English proficiency is not of degree level.
~> he should communicate with his supervisor in order to identify problems & issues
that he needs to improve upon.
~> a project should not be based on his ideas alone, it should be something that is
supported by extensive research on others of similar nature.
~> he should not resume that his supervisor dislike him unless if that person said so.

4.
~ | r.e.s.o.u.r.c.e.s / s.t.r.a.t.e.g.i.e.s | ~
~> find and read more literatures to support an idea.
~> a good working relationship should be created between student and supervisor.
~> extra effort in improving his proficiency in English.
(i.e. do more exercise, attend classes, read English written reading materials)
~> students should have/memorize ( is necessary) report writing format.

Fab 5's Foreword

Assalamualaikum wbt and good day!

This is unexpected-creating a blog as a project for Pro Comm II. To keep you in the loop (yes you,the one who's unfortunate enough reading this),dear Madam Hasmawati has given the students a rather 'interesting' task-create a blog and post anything and everything especially relating to the subject.

To tell you the truth, honestly speaking,we dreaded the idea of writing a so-called online diary/journal. Why? Simple fact-we're already in our final semester and we PRAYED no TAXING assignments are given to us,as we've had our hands and heads full-with fyp, that is.

However, after much deliberation,we found that it's cool to keep a blog for Pro Comm II. We'd be able to write in English through a medium other than the exam booklet and we'll have an ever-ready proof reader on standby (yes, that's you Maam) so whatever grammatical errors we make, mistakes will be acknowledged and pointed out and we'll learn from those errors and improve our English proficiency. Hopefully....

Now,we think introduction is in order. There are 5 of us,hence the name Fab 5. We wanted to have a girly name at first, something like Chic,Babe etc. But it would seem rather odd, since we have a male among us. Therefore, to be just, something  'unisex' was what we chose. Here's a brief summary of who the group members are:

  • Leen~a self-professed IT illiterate.acts as the spokesperson for the group but doesn't mind handing the mic over to her teammates.loves to eat-anything from roti canai to penne amatriciana (tomato+basil+beef, really)

  • Mettie~the nimblest hand in IT.loves cimb's octo and her bike.an avid korean series fan (and managed to who someone else into actually following korean series on air).favourite catchphrase-aigoo

  • Aja~the diva.loves shopping and enjoys eating good food.a good project coordinator-from a mere movie outing to island escapades
  • Aishah~the nomad.pahang-sarawak-johor.newfound passion-hamsters ("mommy" to Hammy and the late Stella-died a week ago with unknown reason. T___T )

  • Syukur~THE thorn among the roses.he's the silent type of guy (but the brain's definitely working 24/7)
You'll get to know more about each one of us in due time. We'll TRY to post as often as possible. So,in the meantime, have a great weekend!
